Yoga provides a basis for overall health, expanded thinking and obtaining inner guidance. We practice yoga to join the body, breath, mind and spirit.

All styles of yoga have their roots in the Hatha Yoga tradition which uses postures (Asana) and conscious breathing (Pranayama) in combination with mental focus. In the early morning and late evening, we tend to need a gentler practice to wake up the body or release the tensions of our day. Midday and early evening practice times are generally better for approaching a more physically active vinyasa practice. That said, our physical, mental and emotional bodies are always changing, so we try to bring ourselves to a moment of stillness, and practice where we are, and according to our needs today.
For those who are wanting to explore yoga, or a gentle practice, we begin at a slower pace so that focus and time may be placed on the fundamentals of calming the mind, establishing the flow of breath and learning the basic poses with an emphasis on alignment. We'll explore the yoga poses to ensure they work for your body, and create a safe and healthy practice.
For a more challenging and physical practice, vinyasa yoga focuses on synchronizing the breath with movement. We approach more dynamic movement, linking and flowing through a progressive series of poses which takes the quality of meditation in motion. This generates internal heat which in turn leads to purifying and detoxifying the body.
At all levels, we work towards a well-rounded practice moving the body into different relationships with the earth and gravity, learning to align the outside container, activating the internal strength of our contents, and finding moments of stillness and peace. Your yoga practice is an ongoing reward for the body, mind and soul.
